Remember To Move Over When Cars Are On The Side Of The Road

When you see roadside workers, or emergency vehicles on the road, most people have the common courtesy to pull out of the way of them. What most people don't realize, however, is that it's a lot more than common courtesy, it's the law.

In situations where you are on a highway, and an ambulance is driving by, you're often required to pull over to the side of the road, or pull over to the other lane and reduce your speed if you cannot pull over completely. Some states - and counties - have specific laws for the speed you need to go down to in case of an emergency vehicle or roadside workers.

The next time you see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road remember it's not just common courtesy, it's the law to move over and help save lives.
