When you are growing up, you can't wait until you are old enough to drive let alone to own your own vehicle. What you do not understand at that age is that the cost of ownership is high. The cost of purchasing a vehicle is just one thing associated with ownership costs. The cost of ownership also requires that the car is scheduled for standard maintenance or that you perform maintenance on the car when something isn't running correctly.

We can think of three recent examples off the top of our heads where Jaguar has promoted a new model by breaking a record with some high-flying stunt. And while the one to promote the all-new XF Sportbrake didn’t involve becoming airborne in the traditional sense, its benchmark-topping run was captured on camera.

Until now, entry-level luxury has been the playing field of the German and Japanese automakers. Hats off to them for holding down the fort for so long, but the British-made 2017 Jaguar XE is here to take over. Designed with state-of-the-art technology, and a simultaneous sense of wildness and refinement, it breaks the mold and charts a new course.

The last eight months has been something of a strip tease for the Jaguar F-PACE, an all-new crossover developed on the brand's state-of-the-art aluminum architecture. First, we got that teaser around the time of the Detroit Auto Show, and again, when spy shots were unveiled. Now, we're getting our first look at the F-PACE in the flesh.

The new F-PACE has a lot of the same design elements as the prototype that debuted two years ago in Frankfurt (where coincidentally, we're seeing the production model in just over a month). It bears the same wide rear haunches…
